Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has criticized the police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, regarding the death of 33-year-old graduate Erasmus Emeya. Emeya’s mother, Rebecca Emeya, alleged on the Berekete Family show that her son was tortured and killed at Nyanya Police Station in Abuja. In contrast, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi released a statement via X, asserting that Erasmus died of asphyxiation and not torture, with an autopsy confirming this in the presence of the deceased’s family doctors.
Harrison Gwamnishu, reacting on social media, disputed Adejobi’s claims and criticized the police for labeling Erasmus a cultist without conviction. He questioned the thoroughness of the police investigation and the circumstances leading to the asphyxiation claim. Gwamnishu highlighted the need for a proper investigation to uncover the truth, expressing skepticism about the police’s narrative and demanding more accountability and transparency.
Gwamnishu’s remarks emphasized the lack of investigation and the hasty conclusions drawn by the police. He urged the police to employ private investigators to ensure a comprehensive and unbiased inquiry into Erasmus Emeya’s death, stressing the importance of justice and truth in addressing such serious allegations.
