Julius Bokoru, the Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs to former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, has accused Governor Douye Diri of neglecting state governance in favor of frequent travel. Bokoru criticized Diri for his multiple local and foreign trips, claiming that these travels have significantly drained the state’s finances.
Expressing his concerns in Yenagoa, Bokoru alleged that Diri’s constant traveling undermines federal efforts to address economic hardships and suggested that the governor’s actions are politically motivated, aiming to position himself as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2027 elections.
Bokoru accused Diri of neglecting the needs of Bayelsa’s citizens, who are facing severe economic challenges, and failing to implement effective government policies to alleviate their plight. He challenged the governor to present tangible humanitarian interventions that his administration has undertaken to support the Federal Government’s efforts.
