The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported a tragic incident where a containerized truck killed a female biker on the Sifax inward Iganmu Bridge. The accident occurred when the truck driver lost control, causing the vehicle to fall on the biker while descending the bridge.
Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment for LASTMA, confirmed the incident on the authority’s official X handle. Preliminary investigations revealed that the speeding truck driver fled the scene after realizing the severity of the accident. The body of the deceased was recovered by LASTMA and emergency responders.
Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transportation, Sola Giwa, confirmed the incident happened around 6:15 am. The Lagos State Ambulance Service removed the body, and the truck was cleared from the road to restore traffic flow. Giwa expressed condolences to the victim’s family and urged truck drivers to adhere to speed limits, while also advising motorcycle operators to follow traffic regulations.
