The Rivers Police Command has reported that hoodlums have taken over the nationwide protest in the state, leading to lawlessness and crime. According to SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police Public Relations Officer, the original organizers have lost control, resulting in disruptions and threats to public safety.
The police statement highlighted several issues caused by the hijacked protest, including traffic disruptions, forced leaflet attachments to vehicles, erection of canopies on main roads, destruction of billboards, threats to traders, and the burning of tires on roads. The command has vowed to arrest and prosecute anyone taking the law into their own hands and has called on parents to control their children.
Protesters are advised to restrict their activities to designated areas like Abali Park and Pleasure Park. The Rivers State Police Command warned that they will not tolerate any breach of peace or unlawful activities and will take decisive action to restore order and ensure the safety of residents.
