The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has denied allegations made by Dangote Petroleum Refinery regarding the enforcement of the domestic crude supply obligation (DCSO). The refinery had accused NUPRC of failing to ensure that it received its full crude requirement from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and international oil companies.
In a statement issued on Friday, NUPRC asserted that it had facilitated the supply of 29 million barrels of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery between January and June 2024. The Commission emphasized its commitment to enforcing the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, and noted that despite low oil production, nine refineries, including Dangote, received crude oil under the DCSO framework.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commissionhighlighted its strategic efforts to secure Nigeria’s energy needs, stating that it had facilitated the supply of over 32 million barrels of crude oil to domestic refineries in the first half of 2024, with Dangote Refinery receiving the majority share.
