Petrol Price Soars to ₦1,200 in Kano, Residents Concerned

Kano residents are facing a sharp rise in petrol prices, with the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) reaching ₦1,200 per liter at several filling stations across the city. This increase follows the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL) adjustment of its pump prices to ₦904 per liter, causing long queues at NNPCL outlets as customers rush to buy fuel before the new prices are fully enforced.

The sudden spike in fuel costs has placed additional financial pressure on residents, many of whom are already struggling with the high cost of living. The increase has also raised fears about higher transportation costs and the potential for rising prices of goods and services. An anonymous NNPCL official confirmed that they are waiting for directives to begin selling at the updated price.

Motorists in Kano have expressed frustration and concern over the rising costs. Many recall past experiences when fuel prices increased and never returned to previous levels, leaving them worried about how they will cope with the current situation. The overall sentiment is one of uncertainty and anxiety as residents brace for the impact of the new fuel prices.
