TUC Demands Immediate Reversal of Petrol Price Hike

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has strongly condemned the recent increase in the price of petrol to ₦855 per litre, calling on the Federal Government to reverse the decision immediately. TUC President, Festus Osifo, expressed deep concern over the sudden hike, warning that it would worsen the already high levels of poverty and hardship across the country, potentially leading to social unrest.

The union criticized the government for imposing the burden of high living costs on ordinary Nigerians while those in power continue to enjoy privileges. They also highlighted the lack of efforts to reduce the cost of governance or implement policies that would strengthen the naira and improve living standards. The TUC urged the government to act swiftly to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians and prevent further deterioration in their living conditions.

The TUC remains committed to defending the rights of Nigerian workers and advocating for policies that promote social justice, fair wages, and a decent work environment. They called for an immediate reversal of the petrol price hike and other recent increases in living costs.
