Brazillian football icon Neymar has voiced his support for Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. as the most deserving candidate to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
Neymar, a former forward for Barcelona and PSG, backed his fellow Brazilian to claim the prestigious award, which also includes nominees such as Manchester City’s Rodri, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman.

In a recent interview, the Brazillian star expressed is belief in Vinicius, citing the winger’s outstanding 2023-24 season with Real Madrid. While he has previously ackowledged Bellingham, Mbappe and Vinicius as top contenders, he has now fully endorsed his compatriot.

“Of course, I will be supporting him [Vinicius] to win the Ballon d’Or this year,” Neymar said via Marca. “For me, there is no other better candidate to win.”

He praised Vinicius for his perseverance and determination, highlighting his rise to football stardom.

“He’s a guy who deserves it because he’s a fighter,” Neymar emphasized. “He has suffered a lot throughout his life, but he has exceeded all expectations and criticism. He has become an idol for all of us.”
The Ballon d’Or winner will be released in Paris on October 28.
