Luke Shaw has rejoined Manchester United’s training sessions, signalling a reduction in the club’s injury woes ahead of Ruben Amorim’s upcoming arrival as manager.
The left-back, who last played for United in February but appeared for England during the Euro 2024 knockout stages, was seen back in training on Friday for the first time in three months.
Shaw had been sidelined for calf injury since August following his return for pre-season, leaving United short at left-back, especially with Tyrell Malacia also unavailable.
Shaw will stay with the squad over the international break and could be fit for selection once Amorim officially takes charge on November 11. Given Amorim’s preference for wing-backs in his tactical setups, Shaw’s return could prove vital in the upcoming months.
United also recieved good news with Leny Loro’s return to training. The 18-year-old defender, who joined Lille for £52.2m this summer, had been out with a foot injury since August. Meanwhile, Malacia has begun his recovery by playing with the Under-21s, following a knee injury.
Other key players like Anthony, Christian Eriksen, and Mason Mount were all included in Ruud Nistelrooy’s squad for the Europa League match against PAOK.
Erik ten Hag, who was recently dismissed after leaving United in 14th olace, had partially attributed the team’s poor performances to the injury crisis before his departure.
