Mrs. Betty Akeredolu, former First Lady of Ondo State, has stirred online reactions by describing Nigeria as a “zoo” in a recent post on X. Her comment came while comparing Nigeria’s lengthy vote-counting process to the quick results in the U.S. presidential elections, noting the stark contrast in efficiency.
In her post, she highlighted that Nigeria’s 2023 election, with 25 million votes, took five days to count, while the U.S. counted 155 million votes in about ten hours. She remarked, “When dishonesty is prioritized, simple things become difficult.”
The post sparked responses, with some supporting her view on the need for change in Nigeria’s electoral process, and others debating her choice of words.
