Wike Responds to Activist Deji Adeyanju’s Criticism on Demolitions in Abuja

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike recently fired back at lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju over his criticisms of ongoing demolitions in Abuja, particularly targeting Ruga settlement along Airport Road. Adeyanju, alongside activist Vincent Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, had previously led protests urging President Bola Tinubu to review the demolition plans, arguing that the demolitions lacked justification.

In a recent media interaction, Wike responded to Adeyanju’s criticism, calling him “jobless” and attributing his activism to unemployment. Wike claimed Adeyanju once sought the role of Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but was rejected. “He came to me wanting to be the PDP National Publicity Secretary, and I turned him down,” Wike stated, adding, “Now he’s taken up activism.”
