Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has asserted his popularity over his opponent, Agboola Ajayi, following his victory in the recent governorship election. Speaking after the Saturday, November 16 election, Aiyedatiwa dismissed claims that Ajayi, the PDP candidate, was more politically influential.
Aiyedatiwa highlighted his opponent’s previous struggles in elections, pointing out that Ajayi couldn’t secure significant support even in his own local government. He emphasized that the people of Ondo were familiar with both candidates and had decisively chosen him.
Addressing allegations of vote-buying, Aiyedatiwa denied any involvement, suggesting that opposition parties were raising these claims to justify their loss. He stated that the people had freely chosen their leader and saw no need for vote manipulation.
