Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Best of Nollywood Awards, held at Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State. During his acceptance speech, he thanked the Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and dedicated the award to his colleagues facing drug-related health issues.
The highlight of his speech came when he jokingly warned fellow actor Toyin Abraham, saying, “Toyin Abraham, this is just some minute to 12; if you talk to me at 1 am, I’ll take you to the coven, and you will disappear.” Known for his roles in occult-themed films, Kanayo’s lighthearted comment sparked laughter, but his message was serious about the need for greater support for Nollywood professionals struggling with health challenges. Fans and colleagues have since congratulated him on the well-deserved recognition.
