Pastor Tunde Bakare, the General Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, has expressed that Nigeria’s inability to thrive is partly due to fears from other nations, which see Nigeria’s potential prosperity as a threat. Speaking to his followers in London, Bakare emphasized that corruption among Nigeria’s elites continues to hinder the country’s progress, as these individuals benefit from maintaining the status quo and work to suppress any efforts to disrupt it.
In his sermon titled “Celebrating God’s Legacy – Honouring the Past and Celebrating the Future,” Bakare highlighted that while Nigeria’s leaders maintain relationships with global bodies like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, they have yet to address the root causes of the nation’s struggles. He called for a deeper examination of Nigeria’s internal issues, pointing out that foreign powers and corrupt elites may be actively holding back Nigeria’s growth.
