A newlywed couple and 16 other passengers sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle accident on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, on Saturday. The couple had been returning from their wedding at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry when the crash occurred.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) attributed the accident to brake failure on a speeding LT bus, which collided with a slow-moving mini truck. Emergency responders swiftly rescued the victims, transporting them to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care.
LASTMA urged drivers to maintain their vehicles, especially braking systems, and adhere to speed limits to avoid such incidents. The agency also highlighted its ongoing safety campaigns targeting commercial drivers ahead of the festive season.
