President Bola Tinubu has rejected calls to reduce the size of his 48-member cabinet, which critics have described as the largest in Nigeria’s history. Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Tinubu explained that each minister was appointed with a clear purpose to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. “I am not ready to shrink the size of my cabinet,” he stated firmly.
The President challenged critics to identify any minister falling short of expectations, expressing confidence in his team’s performance. Despite ongoing scrutiny from opposition parties, Tinubu maintained that his administration’s structure was essential for achieving its goals.
In a related development, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu praised Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as receptive and focused. Following a weekend meeting with Tinubu in Lagos, Kalu urged Nigerians to support the administration, assuring them of forthcoming improvements in key areas of governance.
