In 2024, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command reported a decrease in crime incidents by 15.1% compared to the previous year, alongside the recovery of ₦409.9 million from criminal activities. However, the year was marked by the tragic loss of 140 police officers who died in the line of duty.
The command documented 1,426 cases, leading to 1,077 arrests. Fraud cases were most prevalent, followed by armed robbery and one-chance robbery. Significant seizures included 376 firearms, 187 rounds of live ammunition, and 73 vehicles. Prosecutions resulted in 21 convictions for kidnapping, 11 for one-chance robbery, and 58 for fraud, among others.
Looking ahead, the command aims to build on its 2024 achievements by prioritizing community policing, intelligence-driven strategies, and public awareness campaigns. This renewed focus seeks to ensure sustained progress in reducing crime and fostering safety across the FCT in 2025.
