Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has debunked rumors of his arrest circulating online. In a statement shared on his social media, Obi described the claims as false and an attempt to divert attention from pressing national issues.
Obi clarified that he is currently at his home in Onitsha, Anambra State, and urged Nigerians to disregard the rumors. “Fake news about me has become a pastime for some individuals,” he said, recalling similar false reports last year when he was in Rwanda. He emphasized the importance of staying focused on Nigeria’s challenges and thanked supporters for their dedication to the country’s progress.
The false arrest rumors surfaced amid public outcry over an alleged threat to Obi’s life by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, a claim widely condemned, including by PDP’s former presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
