Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said Nigerian politicians often resort to stealing and violence to win elections and hold onto power. Speaking at a national conference in Abuja, he stressed that power must be fought for and urged Nigerians to protect their votes for credible leadership.
Amaechi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissed hopes that President Bola Tinubu would willingly hand over power in 2027. He insisted that no politician simply gives away power, emphasizing that those who desire change must actively work for it.
He recalled past instances where people risked their lives to ensure leadership change, urging Nigerians to do the same. According to him, politicians in Nigeria are driven by self-interest, and only a determined public can bring real change.
