Controversial singer Portable has sought the legal assistance of prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) in his ongoing case with the Ogun State government. The dispute began when the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) attempted to seal his bar due to permit violations. A confrontation reportedly ensued, leading to the singer allegedly assaulting officials.
Following the altercation, nine of Portable’s associates were arrested and charged with offenses including assault and intent to kill. They were granted bail of ₦5 million each, with sureties required to be licensed bond agents. The case was adjourned to March 17 for further proceedings.
In a public Instagram plea, Portable expressed his desire for Falana’s representation, calling him a “man of the people.” He also previously appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for forgiveness and intervention in his case.
