Trump Unveils ‘Gold Card’ Citizenship Plan for Investors

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a new citizenship pathway called the Gold Card, designed to attract wealthy investors and create jobs while addressing America’s national debt. Speaking at the White House, Trump revealed that the initiative would function similarly to the Green Card but with added privileges. The card, priced at $5 million, would grant holders permanent residency and a direct route to U.S. citizenship. According to him, this approach would bring in successful individuals who would contribute significantly to the economy through investments, taxes, and job creation.

Trump stated that his administration planned to launch the program within two weeks, initially aiming to sell one million Gold Cards, with a long-term target of 10 million. He projected that if one million cards were sold, it could generate $5 trillion, and a full rollout of 10 million cards could raise $50 trillion—enough to offset America’s $35 trillion debt. He emphasized that the plan was legally sound and would provide a boost to the U.S. economy by attracting high-net-worth individuals who could spur economic growth.

While the policy is unprecedented, Trump expressed confidence in its potential success, describing it as an innovative solution to strengthen the economy. The Gold Card program, if implemented, would mark a significant shift in U.S. immigration policy, prioritizing wealth and investment as key criteria for citizenship.
