Five Assassination Attempts: How Tinubu Helped Me Survive—Adeyeye

Former lawmaker Olusola Adeyeye has revealed that he survived five assassination attempts for opposing former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s third-term agenda. Adeyeye, who represented Ila/Ifedayo/Boluwaduro Federal Constituency from 2003 to 2007, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu played a key role in saving his life. Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, he recounted how he was forced to abandon his home for two years to evade his assailants.

Reflecting on his role in the anti-third-term campaign, Adeyeye expressed pride in his contributions, stating that he was among the most vocal voices against the agenda. He also credited his political ally, Femi Gbajabiamila, as someone whose rise in politics was linked to that period. “I was the most vocal against Obasanjo’s third-term plan. The only person who worked harder than me was Usman Bugaje. I’m proud we stopped it, and if history repeated itself, I would do the same,” he declared.

On how he survived, Adeyeye said Tinubu advised him to use multiple vehicles and change locations frequently. “I lived in five different houses and escaped five assassination attempts. Tinubu told me to buy several used cars of different colors and switch them regularly. That was how I stayed ahead of my enemies for three years,” he recounted.
