A Nigerian influencer has taken to social media to call out an InDrive driver for inflating his fare after accepting a ride. According to him, the driver initially agreed to ₦10,700 but later demanded ₦15,000, claiming the original fare was too low.
Expressing his frustration on X (formerly Twitter), the influencer questioned why the driver accepted the ride if the price didn’t suit him. Despite the driver citing high fuel costs, he refused to argue and simply canceled the trip, rebooking another ride for the same amount. Interestingly, he noted that he usually tips drivers but wouldn’t tolerate dishonesty.
His post quickly went viral, sparking heated discussions about ride-hailing ethics in Nigeria. Many social media users weighed in, with some supporting his stance while others debated the challenges faced by drivers in a struggling economy.

@giftbreezy: “Oh same thing happened to me recently in Abuja. I booked a ride with bolt. The price on the app was 7200, bolt driver came and said he can’t go there unless I agree to pay him 9k..I told him I am not going again.”
@Nana_hauwa_: “An In-Drive driver did almost the samething to me. He accepted the ride & the price. When he got to my location, he started saying he can’t accept that amount to go to the destination, that he doesn’t like going there. Why did you accept the ride then? Why did you even come?”
@FinallyVitus: “A price set is what you pay without adding an extra kobo. No one should blackmail you to do otherwise under any guise. That said, you still have your own issues. Don’t make yourself feel good by tipping the next ride an extra #1300 and going ahead to tell us. Shalom.”
@Successchi04: “Na so one do one_time ,he keep telling me my destination is far that the money is little,he talk talk oo till I reach my destination,That day no funny instead of 14500 I paid 20k , thearten to stop on the way , with my condition I just keep mute.”
@Mikaelson_Py: “This is a normal thing with bolt drivers in calabar. They even have the audacity to request double the amount.”
@AdedamolaAkint2: “They will reach your destination and be telling you the journey is far and you should raise the money. Thieves!”
