Presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of hypocrisy, saying he was the one who introduced bribery into Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
Onanuga made the statement in reaction to his claim that lawmakers were bribed to approve the state of emergency in Rivers State. The former president insisted that he had firsthand knowledge of the payments, but House of Representatives member Ikenga Ugochinyere denied the allegations.

Onanuga dismissed Obasanjo’s claims as reckless, saying he had no moral right to accuse others of bribery. The controversy has sparked debates over corruption in Nigerian politics
