Trump Hints at Third Term Despite U.S. Constitution

Donald Trump has suggested he is serious about seeking a third term, even though the Constitution limits presidents to two terms. In a phone interview with NBC News, Trump said, “No, I’m not joking,” but admitted it was too early to consider it seriously.

Under the U.S. Constitution’s 22nd Amendment, a president can only serve two terms, whether consecutive or not. Changing this rule would require major legal and political hurdles. However, some of his allies, including Steve Bannon, have hinted at exploring ways to challenge the term limit.

If Trump were to run again in 2028, he would be 82 years old. While the legal path remains uncertain, his remarks suggest he has not entirely ruled out another bid for the White House.
