After an altercation between members of the Imo State police command and Ebubeagu Security Network, there was confusion inside the Imo State secretariat.
Following the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra’s (IPOB) two-day sit-at-home order, many civil servants who had resumed work suffered injuries in the ensuing violence.
According to reports, the altercation began as a small debate when a police officer confronted the Ebubeagu agent for “over-using his power,” but it quickly escalated into a fight and gunfire.
An eyewitness reported seeing a group of officers drag an Ebubeagu group member close to the state attorney general’s office.

An eyewitness reported seeing a group of officers drag an Ebubeagu group member close to the state attorney general’s office.
Soon after, some Ebubeagu agents showed up and started fighting with the police officers. They began periodically firing into the air, but nobody was hit.
According to the witness, this caused a stampede in the Secretariat, which resulted in some employees suffering injuries of varying severity.
Another eyewitness reported that the cops accused Ebubeagu agents of abusing their authority and taking over the duties of the police command.
However, reports of gunmen shooting Imo workers at the state Secretariat during business hours have been refuted by the Imo state government.
