Benedict Etanabene has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to consider contesting the 2027 presidential election, arguing that experienced leaders are needed during difficult times.
The lawmaker dismissed concerns that a return to politics could damage Jonathan’s reputation, citing the political comebacks of Donald Trump and John Mahama as examples of democracies turning to tested leaders when faced with challenges.
Etanabene praised Jonathan’s record in office, saying Nigeria maintained strong democratic institutions and economic prominence during his administration. He urged the former president to heed calls from supporters and help address the country’s current challenges.
