Presidency Refutes Speculations on Ministerial List Circulation

The Nigerian Presidency has categorically refuted the rumors surrounding the composition of the Federal Executive Council (FEC). Various reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu has already selected members for the cabinet have been labeled as baseless fabrications.

Additionally, the Presidency highlighted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is benefiting from the internal conflicts within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). President Tinubu’s open-door policy has garnered support and admiration from both domestic and international stakeholders.

During a press conference at the State House in Abuja, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake, clarified that there is no truth to the speculations regarding potential ministerial appointments. He stressed that the President has the constitutional authority to determine the composition of the cabinet within the stipulated 60-day period.

Alake affirmed that fabrications and innuendos in the media should not be taken seriously, as the President will make his cabinet list public when he deems it appropriate. He reassured that the public will be promptly informed of the President’s intentions.

Moreover, Alake clarified that President Tinubu’s meetings with opposition party figures are unrelated to the cabinet formation. These interactions are part of his commitment to maintaining an open government. Alake commended former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Ayim, and former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, for their sincerity and praised their courage in acknowledging the positive strides made by the new administration.

The issue surrounding former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, is attributed to the internal conflicts within the PDP, and it does not directly concern President Tinubu’s government. Alake emphasized that political parties can reap the benefits when their opponents face internal strife.

Alake concluded by reiterating that the President’s open-door policy and unifying role have earned him commendations both domestically and internationally. He called for recognition and appreciation of President Tinubu’s initiatives from all quarters, regardless of political affiliations.
