The City of Houston, located in the United States of America, has officially declared July 7th as a special day in honor of Nigerian afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido.
Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston made the proclamation in an official statement released on Friday in Houston, Texas.
In the proclamation, Mayor Turner declared, “I, Sylvester Turner, Mayor of the city of Houston, do hereby proclaim July 7, 2023, as Davido Day.”
Davido shared a copy of the statement on his Instastory, expressing his gratitude for the recognition.

The Mayor’s proclamation comes after Davido’s highly successful concert at the renowned Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
This recognition follows a similar honor bestowed upon Wizkid in 2019 when he made history as the first African artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
Governor Mark Dayton of Minnesota declared October 6th as Wizkid Day in recognition of his achievements.
