“AAU, Ekpoma Emerges as Pinnacle of Integrity Among State Universities in Nigeria”

In a remarkable achievement, Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in Ekpoma, Edo state, Nigeria has risen to the pinnacle as the most corruption-free state-owned university in the country. The prestigious CORPORATE ETHICS AND INTEGRITY COMPLIANCE AWARD, 2023 has been bestowed upon AAU by the Center for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO).

Not only the institution but also key individuals have been recognized for their ethical stance. Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin and members of the University’s Management team were honored with individual awards during a ceremony at the Vice Chancellor’s Office. This recognition comes courtesy of the Lokoja-based non-governmental organization (NGO), Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO), which actively combats corruption.

In his address before presenting the awards, Executive Director of CESVO, Prince Salih Musa Yakubu, emphasized, “This University was, at a time, among the selected ten most corrupt state-owned universities in Nigeria.”

Prince Yakubu went on to commend the Acting Vice Chancellor’s unwavering commitment to rejecting unethical practices, which has propelled the University from a history of misconduct to a new era of integrity.

He reminded the Vice Chancellor of the potential risks involved in challenging the status quo, reassuring him that divine control governs all matters. Prince Yakubu encouraged him not to waver but rather to stand firm in the mission to cleanse the institution.

This recognition speaks to AAU’s transformation under the Acting Vice Chancellor’s principled leadership, demonstrating that the pursuit of excellence and integrity can elevate an institution to unparalleled heights.
