The Nigerian Senate has made key appointments by appointing Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress as its new Deputy Leader of the Senate, representing Kwara South. Additionally, Senator Nwebonyi Onyeka has been appointed as the new Deputy Chief Whip.
The appointments were announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session. Senator Ashiru, who previously served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, was elevated to the position of Deputy Leader of the Senate. This vacancy was created by the appointment of Senator Dave Umahi as the Minister of Works by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
