A shocking incident has come to light in Bauchi State, as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 500-level veterinary medicine student from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, Kaduna State, for the alleged murder of a 17-year-old.
The suspect, identified as Abdullahi Ibrahim, is accused of luring the teenage secondary student with explicit photos and enticing him to meet for a homosexual encounter.
Bauchi State’s NSCDC Commandant, Ilelaboye Oyejide, revealed this disturbing case to journalists on Sunday while parading the suspect at the Command’s Headquarters. The incident reportedly took place in Misau town, within Misau Local Government Area of the State.
Commandant Oyejide disclosed that the command had received information about a culpable homicide case involving the 17-year-old secondary student, Umar Usman, a resident of Misau. The victim’s lifeless body had been discovered wrapped in a cloth and dumped at Misau bypass.
Upon receiving this information, a team of high-powered intelligence officers was swiftly constituted to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“On October 20, 2023, a lifeless body of Umar Usman was found wrapped in a white cloth and dumped in Misau bypass. He was quickly taken to General Hospital Misau where he was certified dead by a medical doctor. His corpse was handed over to the family for burial,” Commandant Oyejide explained.
Following thorough investigations, a suspect named Abdullahi Ibrahim, a 500-level student of Veterinary Medicine at ABU Zaria, was apprehended. Investigators discovered communication between the suspect and the deceased, Usman, in which Ibrahim allegedly enticed Usman with homosexual advances after showing him explicit images.
Tragically, when Usman went to meet with Ibrahim, he was reportedly stabbed in the stomach, his body wrapped in a white cloth, and discarded at the location where it was found.
The suspect confessed to the crime during the investigation, and he is now set to face legal proceedings in court.
This distressing incident highlights the importance of addressing criminal activities and safeguarding the well-being of vulnerable individuals within communities.
