The Arewa Consultative Forum has praised the decision of the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to reduce registration fees by 50% for Kano State students in all state-owned tertiary institutions. This move is set to take effect in the 2023/2024 academic session and is seen as revolutionary and exemplary by the forum.
In a statement released by the ACF’s Publicity Secretary, Bello Galandichi, the Chairman of the Kano State branch of the ACF, Dr. Goni Farouk Umar, commended the decision as a hallmark of visionary leadership. He expressed delight in the state government’s efforts to restore its foreign scholarship program and its compassionate gesture in covering the registration fees for 7,000 state students at Bayero University Kano (BUK).
Dr. Umar emphasized that these actions, including the fee reduction in state institutions and the payment of BUK fees, would significantly alleviate the financial challenges faced by parents and students, particularly in light of the current economic difficulties.
Recognizing education as a powerful tool for societal progress, Dr. Umar extended his prayers for the successful implementation of the government’s pro-poor education policies. He also called on all segments of the community to support educational development in all aspects, underscoring the importance of education in advancing society.
