The Actors Guild of Nigeria reiterates its ongoing support for actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, a commitment that was firmly in place well before the recent news of his health issues.
This affirmation follows criticism the organization faced regarding the assistance provided to its members, especially during health crises.
Kate Henshaw, the Director of Communications for the Actors Guild, took to the organization’s official Instagram account to emphasize their unwavering dedication to supporting their members.
She made it clear that the guild stands by its members in difficult times, particularly when it comes to health-related challenges.
In a statement, she said, “We are compelled to make this public statement in reaction to the vituperations of some netizens over the health of one of our respected and esteemed members, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu.”
Henshaw stated, “We are not here to join issues with anybody, but we want to set the records straight over the public outcry the guild and his colleagues have abandoned him at his point of need.”
She added, “The guild has never abandoned any of its members in need, especially with health interventions. We have been in the forefront of providing necessary support to mr Ibu even before his health conditions was ever made public,” the statement reads in part.”
The guild is taking steps to address the concerns surrounding its support system for members during challenging times, as highlighted in this recent statement.
