Former presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo has revealed that many top politicians are getting ready to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking on live TV, Adebayo said the party is in talks with big names like Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar and is open to welcoming all of them.
According to him, some politicians are still getting used to the SDP’s strict rules and way of doing things, but they’re being guided. He mentioned that even former Kaduna Governor El-Rufai is among those expected to join. Adebayo believes that if everyone plays by the rules, the SDP can give Nigerians a better option and win the 2027 presidential election.
He added that if the party stays united and honest, just like it did during its 2022 convention, they can defeat the ruling APC and send President Tinubu into retirement. Meanwhile, both Obi and Atiku have denied leaving their current parties, but talks with the SDP seem to be ongoing.
