Former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s economic team, describing it as reactive and ineffective. Speaking on Channels Television, Adebayo urged Tinubu to replace the current team with sharper, more proactive individuals, even from within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adebayo expressed concern that despite the funds saved from fuel subsidy removal, the government still plans to borrow for the 2025 budget. He noted that the economic team appears to be “perpetually defending and reacting to their earlier actions,” instead of addressing the root causes of Nigeria’s economic challenges.
The politician also called on President Tinubu to take responsibility for the country’s economic situation and focus on delivering solutions rather than blaming past administrations. According to him, there are many untapped talents within the APC who could improve the administration’s economic approach.
