Ladi Adebutu, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, visited the state police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Wednesday in response to allegations of vote-buying during the March 18 elections.
Adebutu, who returned to Nigeria after a stay of over six months in the United Kingdom, arrived at the police headquarters around 11 am to honor a police invitation related to accusations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that he engaged in vote-buying using preloaded ATM cards during the polls.Adebutu
The Chairman of the APC in Ogun, Yemi Sanusi, had petitioned the police, accusing He and other PDP members of vote-buying, and the case is currently in court.

During his extended stay abroad, the APC spokesperson in the state, Tunde Oladunjoye, claimed that Adebutu was avoiding the law and challenged him to return to face the allegations.
As he returned over the weekend, the APC, in a statement on Tuesday, welcomed him back and urged him to present himself to the authorities to defend against the vote-buying and money laundering charges filed by the Federal Government.
In response, he , accompanied by his legal team and supporters, met with the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, and was subsequently led into the State Criminal Investigation Department for further proceedings.
