Amidst the buzz surrounding the selection of the Senior Special Assistant for the Government House Pool and Oranmiyan New Town, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has stepped forward to clarify the situation, asserting that these positions were initiated during the reign of the All Progressives Congress government.
The focal point of this discussion arises from a memo dated August 9, 2023, which proclaimed the appointment of Oyetunji Rasaki Abefe as the SSA to the Governor on Government House Pool. This announcement was brought to light by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye.
In a statement issued by the State governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Friday, it was elucidated that the “Government House Pool” term pertains to the transportation division of the Government House. Essentially, this section oversees the drivers and vehicles operating within the Government House premises. Notably, this entity was established by the previous administrations under the All Progressive Congress (APC) banner, persisting for a span of roughly twelve years.
The recent appointments, as per the statement, are not arbitrary placements as some partisan critics might argue. Contrarily, they serve a genuine purpose. While these roles were inherited, it’s worth highlighting that Governor Adeleke has exhibited a resolute commitment to retaining the positive aspects while discarding the unfavorable components.
“In both instances at hand, these appointments play a pivotal role in safeguarding and efficiently managing both public and private assets,” the statement concluded.
