“Adeleke Welcomes Women’s World Cup Stars Ajibade and Imuran”

In a heartwarming gesture, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State welcomed home Super Falcons players Rasheedat Ajibade and Rofiat Imuran after their participation in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The event took place in Ede, the governor’s hometown.

Though Nigeria exited the tournament following a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to England in the round of 16, the nation rallied behind its players, including Ajibade and Imuran, who returned home after the defeat.

A video showing the Governor dancing with the two players became a viral sensation, capturing the joyful moment. Governor Adeleke took to Twitter to express his delight in hosting these hometown heroes, underlining his administration’s dedication to empowering girls and promoting sports in Osun State.

The Governor’s supportive gesture extended to personally congratulating Ajibade on her national team appearance and arranging the reception event. Ajibade notably contributed significantly to the team’s efforts, assisting in goals and even scoring a penalty during the crucial matches.

Meanwhile, Imuran’s presence was a testament to her commitment, even though she didn’t get the chance to play during the tournament. The Governor’s recognition of their contributions adds a touch of inspiration to the local sports scene in Osun State.
