Italian club Atlanta BC has celebrated a significant milestone achieved by Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.
The Super Eagles star recently made his 100th appearance for the Serie A leadrers during their Supercoppa Italiana semifinal clash against Inter Milan. However, the milestone was overshadowed by a 2-0 defeat, with Denzel Dumfries scoring twice for Inter.
The Nigerian forward, who joined Atlanta from Leicester City in the summer of 2022, has become a pivotal figure in the team’s attacking lineup. Over his time at the club, he has amassed an impressive tally of 44 goals and 21 assists across all competitions, cementing his status as one of Atlanta’s standout players.
His contributions have been instrumental in the team’s success, including their historic triumph in the Europa League last season. Lookman played a starring role in the final, netting a memorable hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen to secure Atlanta‘s first European title.
In the match against Inter, Lookman started on the bench, a decision by coach Gian Piero Gasperini that raised eyebrows among fans. He was introduced in the 56th minute but was unable to turn the tide as Inter secure their victory.
Despite their defeat, Atlanta took to social media to honour Lookman’s achievement posting: “@molalookman hits 100 games for Atlanta.”
Lookman’s tenure at the club has been marked by remarkable individual accolades as well. He was crowned African footballer of the Year 2024 and earned a spot in the Serie A Team of the Year, reflecting his stellar performances throughout the season.
As Atlanta aims to build on their European success and capture the Serie A title this season, Lookman’s form will undoubtedly play a key role in their pursuit of domestic and continental glory.
