The faction of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has condemned the position taken by the faction led by Pa Ayo Adebanjo on the recent Supreme Court judgment upholding the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the last presidential election. The Adebanjo faction had criticized the Supreme Court’s decision, but the Fasoranti group stated that such remarks were not the position of Afenifere.
In a statement, the Fasoranti faction clarified that its leader, Chief Fasoranti, and other Afenifere leaders were not privy to the remarks made by the Adebanjo group. They emphasized that the Adebanjo faction’s comments did not reflect the true position of Afenifere’s leadership on the matter. The Fasoranti faction accused some Labour Party elements within Afenifere of dragging the organization’s reputation into the mud for political motives.
The faction reiterated that Fasoranti had congratulated Tinubu on his election victory and expressed solidarity with him after the Supreme Court’s decision. They considered the attack on the judiciary by elements within Afenifere as mischievous and urged for a focus on good governance beyond politicking. The Fasoranti faction maintained that the recent meeting held in Ogbo Ijebu did not raise or decide on attacking the judiciary, as suggested by the Adebanjo faction’s General Secretary.
