Akeredolu Presents SUVs to 30 Permanent Secretaries

In a demonstration of his unwavering commitment to the welfare of civil servants, the Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, presented brand-new SUV cars to 30 Permanent Secretaries in the state. The governor underscored the importance of prioritizing the well-being of workers during a special event held at the International Culture and Event Centre in Akure, the state capital, as part of the 2023 Public Service Week grand finale.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Oladunni Odu, Governor Akeredolu reiterated his administration’s dedication to providing qualitative, improved, and accessible healthcare services for public servants. He emphasized the introduction of the Orange Health Care Insurance Scheme, designed to establish a sustainable funding mechanism that reduces financial barriers to healthcare access for the state’s public servants.

The governor expressed satisfaction in the enthusiastic response of labor unions and public servants to this laudable healthcare initiative. Furthermore, he addressed the pressing issue of pension and gratuity, highlighting the ongoing enrollment of workers in the Contributory Pension Scheme as a lasting solution to pension-related burdens.

Governor Akeredolu praised the dedication, resilience, and hard work of certain public servants who have demonstrated their commitment to excellent service at their respective duty posts. He encouraged them to continue their exceptional efforts, recognizing the pivotal role of public servants in economic growth at both the national and subnational levels.

In his welcome remarks, the State Head of Service, Mr. Kayode Ogundele, emphasized the significance of the annual Public Service Week celebration. He stressed the need to rejuvenate the public service continually, ensuring it comprehends its responsibilities as the machinery for implementing government policies and navigating the political environment.

Ogundele also noted the administration’s proactive approach to workers’ welfare, which includes regular promotions and corresponding financial benefits. He highlighted the Ondo Development and Social Investment Program (ODSIP) as a homegrown reform initiative aimed at fostering the values and virtues of public service, particularly through the digitization of personnel-related records, ultimately enhancing service delivery.

The presentation of new vehicles to Permanent Secretaries serves as a testament to the Ondo State government’s dedication to the well-being and motivation of its workforce, recognizing their pivotal role in driving the state’s development.
