The rift between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan stems from her removal as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content, according to Akpabio’s Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy, Ken Okolugbo. He claimed that the recent seat arrangement controversy escalated due to pent-up anger from her committee removal.
The dispute took a dramatic turn when Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, an allegation he has denied. The Senate later suspended her for six months for violating its rules. Speaking on Channels Television, Okolugbo insisted that reconciliation was still possible, stating that all she needed to do was offer a written apology to settle the matter.
Okolugbo warned that those advising the senator against apologizing might be leading her towards political ruin. He emphasized that the door for resolution was still open, but urged Akpoti-Uduaghan to take the opportunity before it was too late.
