Akwa Ibom Governor Urges Youths to Avoid Protests

Akwa Ibom State Governor has advised youths to shun protest, stating that protest would destroy the development plan of the state.

Governor Umo Eno appealed to Nigerian youths to embrace dialogue. He said protest remains a guaranteed right of the citizens, but experience requires peace and dialogue.

He said this on Tuesday, in a meeting with youth groups, students, market associations, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) members, and civil society organizations.

“I urge everyone to maintain peace to ensure our state’s economic development plans succeed under the ARISE Agenda.

We are a peaceful state and we have maintained this hard-won peace, over the years. I want to appeal, if at all, you will participate in the planned protest, (since youths from a number of states have opted out ) please do so peacefully. You must ensure that miscreants do not hijack your protest,” he said.
