Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has urged Muslims in Nigeria and worldwide to embrace righteousness as they commemorate the new Hijrah Year, 1445 A.H.
In a statement released in Ibadan and personally signed by the lawmaker, Senator Alli emphasized the significance of using the new year as an opportunity to renew faith and dedicate oneself to living a righteous life, ultimately contributing to a greater and prosperous Nigeria.
As the new Hijrah Year begins on Muharram 1, 1445 A.H, corresponding with July 19, 2023, Senator Alli, who is also the Maye-Balogun of Ibadanland, called upon Muslims to reflect on their spirituality and strive for a closer relationship with Allah through devoutness and obedience.
He stressed that the true essence of Hijrah, the migration of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina, could only be fully realized through obedience, discipline, faithfulness, and submission to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah.
Senator Alli implored Muslims to fervently pray for peace and stability, not only in Oyo State but in Nigeria as a whole. He underscored the importance of actively contributing to the establishment of a just and peaceful society, urging individuals to foster a spirit of peaceful coexistence irrespective of religious affiliation.
“As we embark on Hijrah 1445 AH, it is crucial for us to embrace the spirit of peaceful coexistence among ourselves. We must be each other’s caretakers and comprehend that Nigeria can only achieve progress and reach greater heights in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility,” he stated.
Recognizing the significance of peace in Islam, Senator Alli cautioned against actions that promote violence and urged fellow Muslims to resist any attempt to divide the country or impede its progress.
Senator Alli extended warm congratulations to Muslims worldwide on the celebration of Hijrah 1445 AH, praying that Almighty Allah would grant them the opportunity to witness many more years of joyous celebrations, concluding with the words, “I wish you all a happy celebration.”
