Amnesty International has accused President Bola Tinubu’s government of attempting to suppress citizens’ rights to peaceful protest. The human rights organization condemned the government’s actions, including the trial of #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protesters on treason charges.
In a statement on Monday, Amnesty International criticized the government’s focus on punishing peaceful protesters instead of addressing the concerns they raised. The organization called the treason charges “absurd and baseless,” urging the government to stop its efforts to silence dissent.

They also highlighted the need for an impartial investigation into the killings of protesters in various states, including Kano, Katsina, and Maiduguri, which have been largely ignored by the government.
