A panel commissioned by the Anambra State Government has verified that Mmesoma Ejikeme manipulated her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score. The investigation revealed that Mmesoma, a student at Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, falsely claimed to have achieved a score of 362, which was later found to be fabricated by JAMB.
In an eight-page report, the panel recommended actions to address the situation. Mmesoma submitted a request to JAMB using a different registration number, providing a fictitious aggregate score of 362. However, the standard JAMB format confirmed her actual score as 249. Mmesoma admitted to manipulating the results using her phone.
The panel interviewed various parties involved, including Mmesoma, JAMB officials, and the school principal. Based on the evidence gathered, the panel recommended that Mmesoma issue written apologies to JAMB, her school, and the state government. Additionally, she should undergo psychological counseling. The panel emphasized that Mmesoma was aware of her true score of 249.
The report, titled “Report of the Committee on Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s JAMB Score Controversy,” was made public by the Commissioner for Information. The panel expressed gratitude to JAMB for their cooperation and hoped that the truth revealed would dispel misconceptions and correct the deception surrounding the case.
The investigation confirmed that Mmesoma manipulated her UTME score, providing false information to JAMB. The panel concluded that her official score is 249, not 362 as claimed.
In response to the report, Mmesoma is expected to apologize, undergo counseling, and rectify the situation.
