Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been suspended from boxing for at least 28 days following his defeat to Daniel Dubois on September 21. In that match, Dubois knocked Joshua out in the fifth round, having knocked him down four times in front of a crowd of 96,000 at Wembley Stadium.
The British Boxing Board of Control has enforced this 28-day suspension in accordance with the regulations of the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports, which mandates medical suspensions for fighters after knockouts. This means Joshua can return to the ring in November 2024, as he has expressed a desire to continue his boxing career despite recent setbacks.
After his loss, Joshua stated his commitment to the sport, acknowledging the mistakes made during the fight while also praising Dubois for his performance. He emphasized that he remains determined to fight again, saying, “We rolled the dice for the third time… I’m a warrior.”
