Senator Samuel Anyanwu has reaffirmed his position as the legitimate National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing claims of his replacement as mere social media propaganda. His statement comes in the wake of Sunday Ude-Okoye’s recent declaration of taking over the role.
The ongoing leadership tussle gained momentum after a Court of Appeal ruling upheld Ude-Okoye’s nomination as the party’s National Secretary by the South East PDP, citing Anyanwu’s candidacy in the 2023 Imo State governorship election. Despite Ude-Okoye’s proclamation and presence at the PDP National Secretariat, Anyanwu maintains control of the office and insists he has filed a stay of execution against the court’s decision.
Anyanwu emphasized his legal authority, stating, “I have a judgment that nobody in PDP can send anything to INEC except me.” The unfolding crisis underscores the deepening divisions within the PDP as both sides await further legal resolutions.
