A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has condemned President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of emergency rule in the state. He accused Tinubu of ignoring the role of 27 lawmakers loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in frustrating Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration.
Eze alleged that the President’s actions were politically motivated, aiming to remove Fubara through unconstitutional means. He questioned the legal basis for suspending an elected governor, arguing that past state of emergency declarations never included such measures.
He further criticized Tinubu’s priorities, stating that while Nigerians have suffered from insecurity and economic hardship, the government only acted swiftly due to a perceived threat to oil facilities.
